Temperature plays an important role in the rate of evaporation. When the temperature of air is increased, the rate of evaporation increases. Heat causes water molecules to move faster and longer distances. When the molecule reaches escape velocity, it will separate from the liquid and form a vapor molecule (evaporation). In the process, the BTUs of the heat escapes with the molecule. Thus, evaporation is a process of cooling. Wet objects will become cooler as the moisture evaporates from the surface and the air will become warmer.
An instrument capable of measuring the temperature, relative humidity, or psychrometrics state of air is known as a thermo-hygrometer. (pictured below)
