Water runs to its lowest level, thus flooded basements are common in Northeastern Pa. and cause thousands of dollars in damage. Unfortunately most times when the flood is caused by an outside water intrusion, insurance will not cover it. The exception to this rule is when the sewer and drain backup rider is added to a policy. This rider basically states that if a sub-pump fails and a flood occurs, that the insurance company will cover the damage up to a certain amount.

Sewer and drain backup is a worthy investment for any homeowner.
