Nicotine Staining Cleaning

These are additional pictures of the apartment complex in Scranton, Pa. SERVPRO of Carbondale/Clarks Summit/Old Forge was tasked to clean to comply with federal regulations. Believe it or not the dis-coloration is nicotine from years of cigarette smoke by the tenant. Quite amazing that nicotine can cause this much damage.

Nicotine is a particularly a tricky substance to clean because like smoke from a fire will heat porous surfaces casing them to expand and allow for the substance to embedded itself inside leaving a lasting odor and residue. We needed to seal these surfaces after the cleaning to ensure that they would not "bleed" through over time. The before and after pictures are striking.
